Maker is a symphonic poem composed for orchestra and electronic sound effects depicting the passage of a giant sandworm in the fictional universe of Dune by Frank Herbert. Revered by the natives on Arrakis, the sandworms are objects of fear and awe that destroy artificial structures and have a mysterious connection to the planet’s ecosystem.
The below audio rendition uses Garriton Personal Orchestra samples and “desert” sounds — both synthesized in Supercollider as well as audio recorded by sandyrb found on freesound.org, used under license CC BY 3.0.
